| II start this project with the
images of these new dresses of Final Fantasy X-2. Yuna Dark Pyrefly image: Click Here! Rikku Dark Pyrefly image: Click Here! Paine Dark Pyrefly image: Click Here! Dress Name: Dark Pyrefly To do this costume I was inspired by Yunalesca, and by the concept of the opposites: dark and light, good and evill, etc... So you can see on the dresses that one side is of a dark color and the other of a light color. Futhermore you can also see the diffent lengths: the light side is longer while the other side is shorter, this rappresent the contraposition between purity and lust. The tatoos (Yevon Symbols) are both in right way and in the reverse way, this rappresent that Yunalesca was the daugther of Yevon (right way) but also that she revolted against her father killing his armour Sin(reverse way). As told before, parts of the dress recall Yunalesca, but with some adjustements. The dress closer to Yevon's daughter is that of Yuna, because first she has been a summoner as well as she also is called after Yunalesca. Just for these resemblances, I prefered to write on the two side strips of the dress the same sentence that Yunalesca had , "Aebon" that transalted means Yevon, and not putting another word that distinguish her , as I did with Rikku and Paine. For the same reason I chosed colors all tend towards blue and light blue, as they were those of Yunalesca, except for the side strips that were green. Choice of the name: I choosed this name for some reasons : first of all it's a dress linked to a "dead" person or to farplane in general, which body was subdivided in many pyreflies at the moment of her defeat by Yuna and co., the second reason instead is more intrinsic. The pirefly or light phantom insect (as it's in japanese) represents anyway the "light", but the lignt could be intended in two ways: "good light", that which give life, as the child that is born, or the ill that is cured and the "evil light", that which is seen at the moment of the death or simply the light of the pyreflies ... unfortunately we are used to consider the light 90% of the times as a positive thing and we don't ever think at the negative side, for this reason to reinforce this thnig I added the "Dark" or "Yami" in the japanese word. Here it's the return of the juxtaposition of good and evil: Dark = Evil, Pyreflies =Llight = Good. Dresses' Study Some details of the dresses' study follows: Yuna Dark Pyrefly particular: Click Here! Being mainly a cosplayer, i like to describe all the materials of which are made the dresses, both in the reality of the game , both for the cosplay. Yuna, Rikku and Paine Weapons: Click Here! The weapons of this costume are lances or staves and remeber the staff of summoner. To differentiate the characters the style of weapon change. For Yuna I inserted the symbol of Zanarkand, that remeber "Tidus" (Yunalesca was very in love with Zaon and putting the symbol of Tidus means all this), besides the symbol of Zanarkand I've also inserted that of Yevon but reversed, that shows that anyway Yuna fought against him and destroyed him. For Rikku's weapon, it was inspired by Auron's "Katana", I did this for two reasons, first because also in FFX-2 Rikku uses this weapon in the Samurai dress up, second, the most important fact is why I think that Rikku has a felling with Auron. In Japan there are three ways of thought about what "man" there's in Rikku's heart, someone says Tidus, someone Gippel and someone Auron (that's one of the most famous), and it's at this way of though that I belong, so Rikku's weapon resemble totally to Auron's sword. Instead for Paine I preferred to elaborate her sword, also for Paine exists various ways of thought in Japan, some thinks that she's in strict relation with Nooji, others with Gippel and others with Baralai (also I belive in this), but I preferred not to base on none of that ways of thought, especially because unlike Tidus and Auron that are "deads", the alleged lovers of Paine aren't, and I didn't think that was kind to insert in a dress linked to the death, emblems of living people. How look like the sphere on the result plate. Sphere on the result plate: Click Here! Location of the sphere. Being a sphere dedicated to Yunalesca, it couldn't be found elsewhere than in Zanarkand. Previously it was found in the higher part (Limbo), but then a monkey took it and hid it in a lower place, as i'ts shown in the following figure. Sphere Map: Click Here! Abilities, AP Cost, MP Cost and description. Some abilities are those that were removed in FFX-2, but that were present in FFX, while others comes from other FF and other are invented new.
What is seen when the characters put on the dress. Yuna: It's night and a shining full moon is high in the sky, beneath it there's a blood lake. Out of nothing appears a pyrefly that dives in the lake. In that point appears the symbol of Yevon's Dome, after a second from it rises Yuna, with the weapon in her hand. She half-close her eyes and from them descents a tear that fall in the blood of the lake, and as if by magic the blood becomes water and the night changes into day, putting in the place of the moon a shining sun. Yuna waves her weapon as she was sending and half smile. Rikku: It's night (but without moon), an arid desert is shown in the background and in foreground again the blood lake. A pyrefly arrives, (same thing as Yuna). Rikku appears, she begin to cry and bring her hands to her eyes and moves aside the tears that fall into the lake. Magically the blood becomes water, the desert becomes a field in flowerwith many butterflies and the night changes into day. Rikku whirls her weapon and smiles. Paine: Also this time it's night (again without moon), but in the background we got withered trees, and in the foreground a lake of blood. A pyrefly arrives, (same thing the others two). Paine appears, cries and shake her head to take off the tears, one falls in the blood and as if by magic, the day come, the lake become of waterand the withered trees returns beautiful and luxuriants. Paine waves her weapon toward the viewer as if she wants to attack and makes a grimace with the face in a contemptuous way. What is seen when the characters dismiss the dress. Yuna: She let her staff fall, bring her hands to her hearth and cry with half-closed eyes and sighs. Rikku: She trows away her weapon as if she was angry, stamps her feet on the ground and fidgets like she was a child and then bows her head. Paine: She hurls her weapon away with anger, turn on her shoulders as if she don't want to make the other see that she's crying, then she puffs bowing her head toward the viewer. What is seen in the sphere. Being a costume inspired to Yunalesca, it's normal that she is seen, more exactly the scene that is seen, is that when thw summoner cast the Final Aeon, sacrificing her love. The girl is seen crying in doing that and asking for Zaon's forgiveness. Besides this scene is also seen when Zaon become the Final Aeon and beat Sin, Yunalesca still in tears, she revolted against her father and she lose the person she loved. |
